Family Garden – Chilterns

Brief

Family Garden making the most of the views and setting; Ability to use marquee for hosting work-related events.

Approach

The concept focuses around allowing the garden to “melt” into the scenery beyond.

The planting and hard landscape design is formal near the house, and becomes progressively more wild and ‘natural’ until it blends seamlessly with the boundary. Tennis court and swimming pool are removed and replaced by a series of gentle tiers, punctuated with planting to emphasise each level change.

A choice of different paths through woodlands, prairie and wild flower meadow create different walking experiences, all converging in a tucked away relaxation area at the bottom of the garden, with reflective pool and firepit.

In the front garden, the driveway is redesigned to improve access and parking, and the adjacent areas incorporate nature play and productive areas.
